Charlie Kirk’s Widow Reveals Heartbreaking Way She Told Her Kids Their Dad Was Murdered

Erika Kirk faced an unimaginable heartbreak: explaining to her young children that their father, conservative activist Charlie Kirk, had been brutally murdered. Charlie was fatally shot on September 10, 2025, while speaking at Utah Valley University. His suspected shooter, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, is facing capital murder charges.

Erika sought guidance from Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, on how to break the devastating news to their three-year-old daughter and infant son. In an emotional moment, Erika shared how she told her daughter, “Baby, daddy loves you so much. Don’t you worry. He’s on a work trip with Jesus, so he can afford your blueberry budget.”

Despite the depths of grief, Erika expressed gratitude for the support from friends, law enforcement, and political leaders, including JD and Usha Vance and former President Donald Trump. She vowed to carry on Charlie’s mission, announcing that the American Comeback Tour would continue in the fall.

Erika spoke candidly about the pain, explaining she does not fully understand the events but believes that the perpetrators do not grasp the consequences of their actions. She emphasized Charlie’s love for their children and the nation and pledged to honor his legacy.

JD Vance called Kirk his dear friend and praised him as a key figure in conservative politics, particularly in Donald Trump’s elections. Kirk’s impact and devotion as a husband and father were widely recognized at his memorial.

Robinson, described by Utah authorities as radicalized online with “leftist ideology,” was arrested after being persuaded by family to confess. Despite the tragedy, Erika’s focus remains on protecting her children and preserving her husband’s memory, thanking those who supported them during this dark time.
