Tim Allen’s father, Gerald Dick, died in 1964 when Allen was just 11 years old, the victim of a tragic car crash caused by a drunk driver. Allen has long carried the pain and struggled with forgiveness.

On September 25, 2025, Allen posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he was deeply moved hearing Erika Kirk’s eulogy for her husband Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot in September 2025. Erika’s words about forgiving the accused killer “because it was what Christ did” resonated profoundly with Allen.

Writing, “I have struggled for over 60 years to forgive the man who killed my Dad,” Allen now says, “I forgive the man who killed my father. Peace be with you all.” His message was met with overwhelming support from fans who praised his compassion and courage.
