How to Keep Your Phlegm and Mucus at Healthy Levels

While it quietly does its job when you’re healthy, phlegm can increase and thicken when you’re sick, making breathing harder.

Thankfully, there are simple ways to manage and reduce extra mucus to help you breathe easier. Drinking plenty of fluids is one of the best tools to thin phlegm. Water, herbal teas, or clear broths work well. Aim for enough fluids so your urine looks pale, which means you are well hydrated.
