Oksana Kobletskaya, a 36-year-old mother from Odessa, Ukraine, was excited to welcome a new member to her family. Already a mother to a three-year-old daughter, she and her husband Sergey had planned for just two children, thinking it was the perfect size for their family. Early in her pregnancy, Oksana sensed something unusual, suspecting there might be more than one baby inside, despite no twins in their family history.
The surprise came during an ultrasound when the doctor’s expression turned serious. Moments later, Oksana heard the stunning news—she was expecting not just twins, but five babies. The doctor struggled to count them clearly but confirmed at least five fetuses were present. Such a rare occurrence, happening just once in over 47 million pregnancies worldwide, left the hospital staff amazed and excited.
For Oksana and Sergey, this revelation was overwhelming. They worried about how to care for such a large family and how their lives would change. Preparing for the birth wasn’t easy, but when the day arrived at 30 weeks, a team of eight doctors stood ready. Delivered by C-section, Oksana gave birth to three boys and two girls. The quintuplets—Daria, Alexandra, Denis, Vladislav, and David—quickly became a sensation, celebrated as Ukraine’s first set of quintuplets. Now three years old, they continue to brighten their family’s lives.
