Violent School Bus Rollover in Texas Injures 10 Including Students

A school bus in Texas carrying 42 students and a driver overturned on a rural road shortly after the school day ended, sending 10 people, including nine children, to the hospital. The incident occurred outside Austin, in Travis County, and left the community shaken.

Kevin Parker, assistant chief of Austin-Travis County Emergency Services, described one injury as life-threatening with two others possibly serious. The bus, a 2024 model operated by the Leander Independent School District, veered off the road and tipped over while traveling along a slight curve on Nameless Road.

Superintendent Bruce Gerring expressed concern for the students and their families, assuring everyone of support. Video from the scene showed the yellow bus on its side with damage to the roof and broken windows.

The bus driver was experienced, and the vehicle was equipped with state-mandated seat belts that children were required to wear. Authorities are still investigating the cause.

All those taken to hospital have since been released. A reunification center was set up for students who didn’t require medical attention.

The crash adds to a difficult summer for many families in the area, coming just weeks after severe flooding. Emergency teams worked diligently to ensure safety and care for those involved.
