Woman Helps Uncover Murder Plot by Ex-Husband and His New Wife

A woman has come forward after playing a crucial role in revealing the murder of her close friend by her ex-husband and his new wife. The tragic story began in December 2000 when Mike Williams disappeared during a duck hunting trip on Lake Seminole, Florida.

After 44 days of searching, authorities called off the effort, assuming Williams had voluntarily gone missing. Six months later, a local fisherman found Williams’ belongings, including his fishing jacket and hunting license, floating in the lake.

Kathy Aldredge, a close friend of Williams, became suspicious when her husband, Brian Winchester, started an affair with Denise, Williams’ widow. Feeling betrayed, Kathy suspected foul play in Mike’s disappearance.

Together with Williams’ mother, Cheryl, Kathy spent years investigating quietly, sharing theories and searching for clues despite lacking concrete evidence. The truth unraveled when Brian kidnapped Denise at gunpoint to force her silence. Following his arrest, Brian cooperated with police in exchange for immunity, leading to the discovery of Mike’s body in 2017, confirming he had been murdered.

Kathy played a pivotal role by agreeing to wear a wire to record a phone conversation with Denise, during which Denise allegedly admitted to involvement in the murder plot. This evidence helped secure Denise’s conviction for conspiracy to commit murder, and she was sentenced to 30 years in prison after a previous conviction was overturned. Brian received 20 years for kidnapping Denise, plus 30 years for conspiracy related to Mike’s death.

Kathy said her decision to help expose the truth stemmed from desperation, feeling like no other path was working. Her story reminds us of the painful impact of betrayal and the importance of courage in seeking justice.
