First Lady Melania Trump’s Letter Highlights Child Safety in Meeting with Putin

During the recent summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska, Melania Trump wrote a personal letter to the Russian President, urging him to focus on the safety of children affected by the ongoing war in Ukraine. Trump hand-delivered this letter during their talks on August 15.

The correspondence is said to call for protecting the innocence of children displaced or taken from their families during the conflict—a matter Ukraine has called a war crime. Russia maintains that these relocations are protective.

Melania’s letter was described as a plea for peace and hope for future generations, stating every child deserves safety regardless of political boundaries. Her message encouraged shared responsibility and compassion.

Though no peace deal was reached, Trump described the meeting as productive, promising further efforts to end the conflict. Putin even extended an invitation to Trump to visit Moscow, which Trump acknowledged would be controversial but considered.
