During a recent interview for his Prime Video show The Bondsman, Kevin Bacon shared a chilling moment from filming Wild Things in 1998. While filming a nighttime scene in a swampy area near a river, the crew spotted a floating dead body.
The filmmakers had placed a raft on the river to hold lights when someone announced the grim discovery on the walkie-talkie. The eerie incident caused a pause in production as police were called to safely remove the body.
On February 20, 1991, 20-year-old Keltie Byrne, a part-time animal trainer and marine biology student, was drowned at Canada’s Sealand of the Pacific.

Director John McNaughton, in a past interview, confirmed the event took place in the Florida Everglades and police ensured the tragedy didn’t appear in the movie.
Wild Things is a gripping thriller set in a wealthy Florida neighborhood where a school counselor faces shocking accusations, leading to twists uncovered by Detective Duquette, played by Bacon. The cast includes Matt Dillon and Neve Campbell.
