Heartbreaking Autopsy Results Released After Cheerleader’s Newborn Found Dead in Trash Bag

Autopsy results have been made public for the male infant found in the closet of 21-year-old competitive cheerleader Laken Snelling. Currently, the cause of death remains “undetermined,” with officials stating that further microscopic testing is necessary to reach a definitive conclusion.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office in Lexington, Kentucky, emphasized their thorough investigation to address community concerns with sensitivity. Police took Snelling into custody after the infant was discovered wrapped in a towel inside a trash bag.

According to reports, during an interview, Snelling admitted to giving birth and to concealing the evidence by placing all cleaning items and the infant inside a black trash bag. Experts caution that final conclusions can take weeks or even months after detailed testing.

Laken Snelling is a senior on the University of Kentucky’s STUNT cheerleading team, known for its demanding athletic performances. She appeared in Lexington court, pleading not guilty to charges including abuse of a corpse and evidence tampering. She was released on a $100,000 bond and is currently under home incarceration at her parents’ home.

The investigation continues as police work to understand the full circumstances behind this tragic case in a state where abortion laws became more restrictive in recent years. The case has drawn public attention not only for its sad details but also for Snelling’s past social media activity and allegations of bullying from former classmates.
