Advisor Raises Concerns Over Trump’s Ability to Finish Term

While President Donald Trump and the White House doctor maintain he is in “excellent health,” a prominent Republican advisor is sounding alarms about the former president’s mental sharpness. Rick Wilson, co-founder of the Lincoln Project, suggests that Trump may be showing signs of cognitive decline severe enough to prevent him from completing another term.

Trump’s 2025 health exams showed strong cardiac and neurological function, according to Dr. Sean Barbabella, with specialists finding no major issues. However, Wilson notes that despite clean test results, Trump’s public behavior indicates confusion, incoherence, and verbal lapses consistent with early dementia.

Wilson urges the public to carefully watch for signs of mental decline, believing that tests don’t always capture real-world functioning. Veteran journalist Timothy L. O’Brien similarly warns Trump is haunted by fears of following his father’s cognitive decline, questioning whether he truly plans a third term or is driven by ego.
