Sally Field Reveals Burt Reynolds as Her Worst On-Screen Kiss

Sally Field, beloved actress and two-time Oscar winner, recently shared a surprising revelation about her most cringe-worthy on-screen kiss. In a candid moment on the show Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the 76-year-old actress admitted that the worst kiss wasn’t from a stranger, but from her famous ex-boyfriend Burt Reynolds.

Field hesitated at first but then confessed, “Okay. This is going to be a shocker. Hold on folks—Burt Reynolds.” The two co-starred in the 1977 movie Smokey and the Bandit and were romantically involved for about five years following the film’s release.

She detailed that during filming, she had to “look the other way” during their kiss scenes because “this just was not something he really did for you.” Field humorously added that a lot of “drooling” was involved in those smooches, much to host Andy Cohen’s delight.

Reynolds, who passed away at 82, once called Field the “love of his life” in his memoir But Enough About Me. Field, however, revealed in interviews and her 2018 memoir In Pieces that their relationship was fraught, and she distanced herself in later years because he was not good for her well-being.

Despite the awkward kisses, Sally Field’s remarkable career continues, and she remains a respected figure in Hollywood for her versatility and talent.
