Conservative commentator and talk show host Megyn Kelly recently revealed that Erika Kirk, widow of the late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, was left “genuinely rattled” after learning about a Jezebel article alleging witches were hired to place a curse on her husband just days before his tragic assassination.

The article, published on September 8, 2025, took a satirical tone, describing attempts to hire self-described witches via the online marketplace Etsy to cast minor misfortunes on Kirk—such as microphone malfunctions and ill-fitting clothes—rather than physical harm. Regardless, the report’s timing and content deeply disturbed the Kirks.

Megyn Kelly disclosed that Erika and Charlie Kirk reached out to a friend to come and pray with them the night before Charlie’s death, reflecting their Christian faith and concern about the spiritual implications of the curse claims.
Following backlash, Jezebel removed the article and issued a statement condemning political violence, but the emotional damage to the family had already been inflicted, Kelly emphasized.
Kelly sharply condemned Jezebel and Etsy for allowing such content, calling for accountability and an apology to Erika Kirk for the distress caused to her family during an already agonizing time.
