A lip reading expert has disclosed an intense and tense conversation between President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron during a famously long handshake at the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit in Egypt on October 13, 2025. The summit marked a historic ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas after more than two years of conflict.
As Trump and Macron clasped hands for almost 30 seconds, their handshake resembled a political arm-wrestle, with an exchange that went beyond a simple greeting. According to lip reader Nicola Hickling, Trump asked Macron, “Nice to see you, so you agreed?” followed by “Are you being genuine?” Macron reportedly replied “Of course.”
The mood then turned darker as Trump said, “Okay, so now I want to know why. You hurt me. I already know,” tightening his grip. Macron responded with, “You will see what is about to happen,” signaling an ominous warning.
