Kevin Federline, the father of Britney Spears’ two sons, has made a shocking claim in his upcoming memoir that Spears would sometimes silently stand in their bedroom at night while holding a knife. In his book You Thought You Knew, Federline writes that the 43-year-old pop icon would watch their sons, Sean Preston (20) and Jayden James (19), sleep without saying a word.
“They would awake sometimes to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand,” he recounts, before saying she would then quietly leave. Federline, who was married to Spears from 2004 to 2007, expresses deep concern over her mental health and fears something bad might happen if her condition doesn’t improve.
Despite the distressing allegations, Spears’ representatives responded by accusing Federline of profiting off her now that child support payments have ended. They emphasized that her main concern is the wellbeing of her sons amid the sensational claims. Spears herself has faced public struggles, including erratic Instagram posts and past conservatorship, which ended in 2021 after a fan-led campaign.
Federline also criticized the #FreeBritney movement in his memoir, suggesting that while fans meant well, the campaign might have unintentionally caused harm. The memoir is due for release on October 21, 2025, and promises to reveal more about their tumultuous relationship and his worries about Spears’ current state.
