A family’s worst nightmare became a reality when they were forced to leave their three dogs behind as they fled their home in Los Angeles due to the devastating Palisades wildfires. But thanks to the bravery and quick thinking of a CBS News team, the dogs were rescued from the burning house, reuniting the family with their beloved pets.
Andrea Pasinetti and his wife, Sixuan, were out of state when the wildfires broke out, leaving their dogs, Alma, Archie, and Hugo, in the care of a dogsitter. However, the dogsitter was unable to reach the house due to the flames, leaving the dogs stranded.
Andrea immediately flew back to Los Angeles, determined to rescue his pets. He was joined by a friend who brought supplies, including blankets and fire-resistant gear. However, they were unable to reach the house due to the police blockade.

It was then that Sixuan spotted CBS News reporter Jonathan Vigliotti reporting live from the scene. She quickly reached out to him through social media, and Jonathan, along with his producer Christian Duran, sprang into action.
Despite the risks, Jonathan and Christian made their way to the Pasinetti’s house, which was on the verge of collapse. They broke into the house, navigating through the smoke-filled rooms to find the dogs. Alma was the first to be rescued, followed by Archie, and finally, Hugo, who was hiding under a bed.
The rescue was a harrowing experience, but thanks to Jonathan and Christian’s bravery, the dogs were reunited with Andrea, who was overcome with emotion. “I have never felt that mixture of joy and relief and exhaustion and despair and gratitude towards someone,” he said.
The experience had a profound impact on Andrea, making him realize what truly matters in life. “I think we go through life accruing so much stuff and curating our belongings, but at the end of the day, it’s all stuff — and while it’s sad to lose, I think the possibility and prospect of losing something much more important just put it into perspective.”
The Pasinetti family’s story is just one of many heroic tales to emerge from the devastating LA wildfires. The bravery and selflessness of Jonathan and Christian serve as a reminder of the best of humanity, and the importance of kindness and compassion in the face of adversity.
