“Trump’s Inner Circle Clamps Down on Musk’s White House Ambitions”

Elon Musk’s quest to become a Washington power player has hit a roadblock named Susie Wiles. Trump’s chief of staff, a seasoned strategist with a reputation for ruthlessness, has shut the door on Musk securing an official role in the administration. The snub underscores tensions between Musk’s maverick style and the White House’s push for order.

Musk and Trump’s friendship took off during the 2024 campaign, with the billionaire emerging as one of Trump’s most vocal supporters. His $175 million donation to a pro-Trump PAC and his calls to dismantle “oppressive” regulations cemented his status as a key ally. But since Trump’s inauguration, Musk’s penchant for controversy—including a social media spat with British leader Keir Starmer—has drawn criticism.

Wiles, who famously avoids spotlight-seekers, made her position clear: “Drama and solo acts are counterproductive.” Her words echo concerns that Musk’s unfiltered persona could destabilize Trump’s carefully curated image. Even Musk’s DOGE initiative, housed steps from the Oval Office, hasn’t shielded him from the chill.

While the two remain publicly cordial, insiders say Musk’s access to Trump has dwindled. For a man accustomed to calling the shots, playing second fiddle to Wiles’ iron-fisted management might be a bridge too far.
