The figure skating world is in mourning after a plane crash in Washington, D.C., took the lives of two young sisters, Everly and Alydia Livingston, and their parents, Peter and Donna. The family was returning from the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, Kansas, when the tragedy occurred.

Everly, 14, and Alydia, 11, were passionate about skating, with Alydia known for her lively personality and Everly for her quiet determination on the ice. Their parents were their biggest cheerleaders, often traveling long distances to support their daughters’ competitions. Donna, their mother, was described as a devoted parent who shared every milestone with friends and coaches, while Peter, their father, loved capturing their performances on camera.
The crash, which also involved an Army Black Hawk helicopter, has left the skating community devastated. Friends like Cassandra Atkins, who designed the girls’ skating outfits, remember the family fondly. “Donna was so proud of her girls,” Cassandra said. “They were her everything.”
As the National Transportation Safety Board investigates the crash, the skating world is honoring the memory of the Livingston family and all those who lost their lives. Their passion for skating and the love they shared as a family will never be forgotten.
