Vice President JD Vance has wasted no time making his mark, clashing with CBS anchor Margaret Brennan over Donald Trump’s hardline immigration policies. In a tense interview, Vance defended the administration’s push to end birthright citizenship and tighten border security, leaving Brennan and viewers speechless.
Trump’s approach to immigration has been aggressive from the start. His administration has carried out widespread ICE raids, detained undocumented immigrants in facilities like Guantanamo Bay, and even deployed the military to assist with deportations. Trump has framed these actions as necessary to protect Americans from criminal elements, but critics argue they go too far.

One of the most contentious aspects of Trump’s agenda is his effort to end birthright citizenship. By targeting children born to undocumented parents, Trump has sparked legal challenges and widespread criticism. Vance, however, stands firmly behind these policies, arguing that the current vetting process for immigrants is inadequate.

During his interview with Brennan, Vance cited cases where vetted individuals later engaged in criminal or terrorist activities. He called for a complete suspension of immigration until stricter measures can be implemented. Brennan pushed back, highlighting the humanitarian impact of these policies, such as the 30,000 Afghan refugees left stranded after their flights to the U.S. were canceled.
Brennan also reminded Vance of America’s immigrant roots, urging compassion and fairness. Vance, however, remained unmoved, stating, “Just because we were founded by immigrants doesn’t mean we have to have the dumbest immigration policy in the world.”
Margaret Brennan: “But this is a country founded by immigrants”
VP Vance: “Yes… but just because we were founded by immigrants doesn't mean that 240 years later we have to have the dumbest immigration policy in the world.”

The interview grew increasingly tense as Vance repeatedly dismissed Brennan’s arguments with the phrase, “I don’t care, Margaret.” This blunt response quickly went viral, drawing both support and criticism. Supporters praised Vance for prioritizing national security, while critics warned of the potential harm caused by such rigid policies.
As the debate over immigration continues, Vance’s unwavering support for Trump’s agenda signals a continued shift toward stricter border control and a redefinition of citizenship in the U.S.
