Former President Donald Trump has unveiled a surprising plan to acquire Greenland and rename it “Red, White, and Blueland.” This proposal is part of his broader vision to expand American territory and influence.
Since the Republicans regained control of the White House earlier this year, Trump’s expansionist ambitions have been on full display. Among his many ideas, such as renaming the Gulf of Mexico and pushing for Canada to join the U.S., his interest in Greenland has drawn significant attention.
Greenland, a Danish territory since the 18th century, has long been a point of interest for Trump. Despite a tense phone call with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Trump’s determination to acquire the island has not diminished.
Recently, Republican Congressman Buddy Carter of Georgia introduced legislation to enable negotiations for the purchase of Greenland and Denmark. The bill, now under committee review, proposes renaming Greenland to “Red, White, and Blueland,” a patriotic nod to the American flag.
In a statement, Carter expressed his support for Trump’s vision, declaring, “America is back and will soon be bigger than ever with the addition of Red, White, and Blueland.” He emphasized that the acquisition would strengthen national security and promote freedom.
Trump has consistently expressed his belief that Greenland’s 57,000 residents would welcome becoming part of the U.S. When questioned by reporters last month, he confidently stated, “I believe that we are going to have it. The folks are interested in being with us.” He also dismissed Denmark’s claim to the territory, calling opposition an “unfriendly act.”
While the proposal has sparked widespread discussion, its future remains uncertain. For now, Trump’s vision of a “Red, White, and Blueland” remains a bold and polarizing idea.
