Barack Obama didn’t hold back in his latest criticism of Donald Trump, this time targeting the former president’s decision to withhold billions in funding from Harvard. The move came after Harvard rejected Trump’s demands to overhaul campus policies, including diversity initiatives and hiring practices.
Speaking at a recent event, Obama made his disapproval clear, stating, “I have deep differences with my most immediate successor.” He later took to social media to praise Harvard for standing its ground, calling Trump’s actions “ham-handed” and an attack on academic freedom.
Harvard argued that while it takes antisemitism seriously, the government’s demands went too far, threatening the university’s independence. The Trump administration, however, accused Harvard of resisting necessary reforms, claiming the school embodies an “entitlement mindset.”
The clash underscores the broader battle over free speech, political influence in education, and the ongoing feud between two of America’s most polarizing presidents.
