Amy Schumer is known for her fearless humor, and she proved it once again when she opened up about her much-discussed sex scene with John Cena in the movie Trainwreck. In her usual comedic style, Schumer made some eyebrow-raising comments that left fans laughing — and maybe cringing a little, too.
In Trainwreck, Schumer plays a commitment-phobic journalist who dates various men, including Cena’s character, Steven — a gym-obsessed guy with a love for protein shakes. Their love scene is both absurd and hilarious, but what happened off-camera has now become just as entertaining.
During a promotional tour in Australia, Schumer jokingly confessed that Cena was “literally inside” her during the filming. Although said in jest, it gave a glimpse into how bizarre filming such scenes can be. She added that it felt like having a “refrigerator” on top of her and claimed his butt was “like an entire world.”
She even admitted the scene might have been more impactful for Cena than for her, saying she just lay there as usual. But her biggest complaint? Not getting to feel his private parts — a fact she jokingly labeled a “major regret.”
John Cena later echoed the awkwardness in his own way during an appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast. He explained that filming a sex scene, especially a comedic one, is far from intimate. “People think it’s just you and your co-star,” he said, “but there are so many people behind the scenes.” He emphasized that there’s nothing romantic about it — it’s just work.
Schumer followed up on Instagram with a playful message aimed at Cena, pretending to be heartbroken. “That scene meant a lot to me,” she wrote, clearly leaning into the ridiculousness of it all. The result is a hilarious and revealing peek into the not-so-glamorous side of movie-making.
