The Unintended Confession

David’s secret afternoon getaway turned into a nightmare when he spotted his father-in-law’s car outside the hotel. Certain he’d been discovered, he canceled his plans and took out his frustration on the vehicle, breaking both mirrors before fleeing the scene.

The next morning, David visited his father-in-law, eager to see the old man’s reaction to the vandalism. “Notice anything unusual about your car?” David prodded with fake concern.

His father-in-law’s face turned red. “Your wife drove it yesterday and returned it in that condition! Can you believe it?”

David’s blood ran cold. In his haste to get revenge for an imagined wrong, he’d accidentally framed his own wife. The universe, it seemed, had a wicked sense of humor about infidelity and misplaced vengeance.
