Dajua Blanding, a Detroit rapper known as Dank Demoss, is suing Lyft after a driver reportedly refused to give her a ride because of her size. The incident happened when she requested a ride to her cousin’s house for a football watch party in January 2025. The driver arrived in a small Honda Civic and refused to let her in, saying the car couldn’t safely handle her weight and even mentioning his tired tires as a concern.

Dank Demoss filmed the exchange and shared it on TikTok, where she insisted she could fit in the car, but the driver remained firm, canceling the ride and advising her to book a larger vehicle. Feeling humiliated, the rapper announced legal action, claiming discrimination based on her weight.

Her attorneys argue that denying service due to weight is illegal under Michigan law and compare it to discrimination based on race or religion. They warn that such refusals can be dangerous, especially if someone is left stranded.
Lyft condemned discrimination and said it was investigating the matter. Social media responses were mixed, with some supporting the driver’s right to refuse service for safety reasons and others standing with Dank Demoss against perceived discrimination.
