A devastating car accident in Georgia has left a husband grieving the unimaginable loss of his wife and their four young children. On the morning of April 6, 2025, 27-year-old Reagan Dougan was driving her children—ages 9, 4, 2, and just 3 months old—along I-95 South in McIntosh County. They were on their way to visit Reagan’s husband, Christian, in Florida.
Reagan had rented an SUV for the trip from Raleigh, North Carolina. At around 6 a.m., her Jeep Cherokee collided with another vehicle at a high speed. The SUV struck the rear of a white Infiniti sedan and then hit the center guardrail. The SUV burst into flames, tragically killing Reagan and her children at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle survived and was taken to the hospital.
The accident closed the highway for hours as authorities investigated the cause of the collision. The loss has deeply shaken the communities in both Georgia and Raleigh, where the family had recently moved.
Friends and neighbors remember Reagan as a devoted mother who dreamed of raising a happy family. Her friend Christopher “Jonesy” Butler-Jones described her as loving and dedicated, always able to brighten people’s days. Neighbors recall the family’s warmth and the joyful sounds of children playing in their yard.
A GoFundMe campaign has been set up by Christian’s stepmother to assist with funeral costs and transporting the family’s remains to Florida. The fundraiser has gained widespread support, reflecting the profound impact the Dougans had on those who knew them.
Photographer Katrina Cusatis, who had taken maternity photos of the family, shared her heartbreak and urged people to keep the family in their thoughts. Reagan’s friend also posted heartfelt memories, highlighting Reagan’s vibrant spirit.
Though gone too soon, the love Reagan and her children shared remains a shining light for those who loved them, offering comfort in the face of a tragic loss.
