Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem recently criticized South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone for making jokes about her appearance, calling their actions “lazy” and “petty.” In an episode from the show’s 27th season, Noem’s character is portrayed with botched Botox and a disheveled look, drawing sharp remarks. Noem expressed on Glenn Beck’s podcast that mocking women for their looks is a tactic mainly used by liberals and extremists and said if the creators wanted to critique her job performance, they should do so instead.
In response, South Park appears to have answered back by changing their Facebook profile picture to a cartoon version of Noem’s character featuring the exaggerated Botox run-off. This subtle move seems to be a silent reply to her criticism, embracing the show’s history of satire and fearless humor.
White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers dismissed Noem’s complaints as hypocritical, noting that the show has often been criticized by the left but is now being praised. Rogers also highlighted President Trump’s success, asserting that no show could derail his achievements, adding a political edge to the controversy.
