Poll Predicts Obama Would Beat Trump in Hypothetical 2028 Election

A recent poll conducted by Daily Mail and J.L. Partners surveyed over 1,000 registered voters about a hypothetical 2028 presidential election featuring Barack Obama versus Donald Trump. Despite constitutional limits preventing a third term for either man, the poll found Obama leading with 52% against Trump’s 41%.

Obama performed especially well among Hispanic voters (73%) and Black voters (68%), while also leading among independents. The poll suggests that among recent Democratic leaders, Obama would be the only one to decisively defeat Trump in such matchups. Trump narrowly edges former candidates Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden in other hypothetical scenarios.

Though Trump has publicly expressed interest in running again, constitutional amendments would be required to allow a third term, making this matchup unlikely. Still, the poll illustrates the continued political relevance of both figures and the sharp divides in American politics.
