Brazil’s Most Tattooed Man Shares His Painful Tattoo Removal Journey

Leandro de Souza, once known as Brazil’s most tattooed man, covered 95% of his body with ink inspired by rock bands like Nirvana and Guns N’ Roses. Starting tattoos at just 13, Leandro’s obsession led him to hold the official title at a 2023 tattoo expo. His art came at a cost—finding work was tough, and at times, he even faced homelessness.

Two years ago, after converting to evangelical Christianity, he felt that the tattoos no longer suited him and began the painful process of laser removal. He shares his transformation on Instagram, explaining that each session hurts badly despite anesthesia, but it’s part of reclaiming his life and dignity.

The tattoo studio doing the removals insists the process is about much more than looks—it symbolizes choices, effort, and inner change. Leandro is now clean from drugs and alcohol, focused on steady work, supporting his son, and caring for his elderly mother.

He warns others to think carefully before getting face tattoos, sharing his own regrets while emphasizing his belief in bigger priorities after his conversion.
