Apple’s latest release, the iPhone 17, includes one of the most sought-after updates from users—the ability to charge faster than ever before. Officially launching this week, the iPhone 17 lineup includes several models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a super-thin iPhone Air.
Apple confirms the new phones can charge up to 50% in just 20 minutes, a 10-minute improvement over the previous iPhone 16 models. This upgrade requires pairing with a compatible USB-C charger, with Apple releasing a new 40W dynamic power adapter priced at $39. However, any high-wattage USB-C charger will suffice, and it doesn’t have to be Apple-branded.

The iPhone Air charges slightly slower—50% in 30 minutes—due to hardware limitations but still offers all-day battery life while measuring a mere 5.6mm thick, making it Apple’s thinnest phone yet.
Battery life has also improved, with the iPhone 17 Pro Max boasting up to 39 hours of video playback, the longest ever for an iPhone. The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro both offer 33 hours, while the standard iPhone 17 and Air come with 27 hours.
Apple introduces new color options this year ranging from lavender and mist blue to cosmic orange and deep blue, sparking conversation about preferences, with some users hoping for more traditionally “cute” shades.
