Cardiac Surgeon Shares Four Foods to Avoid for a Healthy Heart

Veteran heart surgeon Dr. Jeremy London has revealed four foods that he steadfastly avoids to maintain his heart function and longevity. These foods are linked to inflammation, obesity, and other conditions that accelerate cardiovascular disease.

Fast food tops his list due to its industrial processing, high salt, fat, and sugar content. Dr. London stresses that most fast food is not nutritious but potentially harmful “edible product” causing chronic inflammation, a key driver of heart disease.

Soft drinks—regular and sugar-free—are denounced for causing blood sugar spikes, increasing triglycerides, and promoting metabolic diseases that harm the heart.

Milk consumption is questioned by Dr. London given its saturated fats and unusual role as a mammalian dietary product consumed beyond infancy and among different species, potentially contributing to elevated cholesterol.

Alcohol is strongly cautioned against as “toxic” to cells, with no proven cardiovascular benefit. Studies claiming otherwise have been criticized for bias and confounding.

Dr. London advises focusing on real, nutrient-dense foods and minimizing processed and sugary items to protect heart health, highlighting that lifestyle changes can prevent many cardiac events.
