Bel-Air and Beyond: Remembering Actor and Community Leader Floyd Roger Myers Jr.

The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Floyd Roger Myers Jr., an actor best known for his memorable childhood roles in the 1990s, who has passed away at the age of 42. According to his family, Myers died at his home in Maryland after suffering a heart attack. His sudden passing has cut short a life that transitioned from early Hollywood success to meaningful community work, leaving behind a legacy that extended far beyond the television screen.

Many will remember Myers from his 1992 appearance on the iconic sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where he portrayed a young version of Will Smith’s character in a flashback episode. That same year, he took on another significant role, playing a young Marlon Jackson in the acclaimed television mini-series The Jacksons: An American Dream. These performances cemented his place in the pop culture landscape of the era and made him a familiar face to millions of viewers.

After his early acting career, which included a role in the 2000 WB drama Young Americans, Myers channeled his energy into supporting his community. He co-founded The Fellaship Men’s Group, an organization dedicated to helping men “lead, heal, and thrive.” The group paid tribute to him on social media, promising to continue its mission in his honor and referring to him as a “good brother” who would be deeply missed.

Myers’s greatest role, however, was that of a devoted father. He leaves behind four children: Taelyn, Kinsley, Tyler, and Knox. His sister, Tyree Trice, has started a GoFundMe to support the family, describing him as a loving brother and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone he knew. His mother expressed her profound grief online, sharing a photo of Myers with his children and capturing the heartbreak of a life taken too soon.
