Elon Musk’s Son X Æ A-12 Captivates the White House—Here’s the Story Behind His Name

Elon Musk’s son, X Æ A-12, recently made a memorable appearance at the White House with his father and former President Donald Trump. The four-year-old, known as “Lil X,” has a name that has fascinated the public since his birth in 2020. Musk and his former partner, Grimes, chose the unique name, which Musk has clarified is pronounced “X Ash A Twelve.”

The name carries deep meaning for the couple. The “X” represents the unknown, “Æ” is pronounced “Ash,” and “A-12” refers to the Archangel 12 aircraft, a precursor to the SR-71, which Musk has called “the coolest plane ever.” While the name is unconventional, it reflects Musk’s innovative and forward-thinking mindset.

At the White House event, Lil X stole the spotlight with his playful antics. While Musk addressed the press, his son made faces, picked his nose, and even wiped his hands on the historic Resolute Desk. The moment quickly went viral, with social media users sharing their reactions and joking about how Trump might have felt about the toddler’s behavior.

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, later addressed the incident on social media, expressing surprise that her son was at the event. She wrote, “He should not be in public like this,” but added that she was relieved he was polite. The couple, who split in 2022, share three other children, each with names as unique as X Æ A-12.
