The lawsuit accuses New York of failing to enforce federal immigration laws through its sanctuary policies, which Bondi argues jeopardize public safety.
She referenced the tragic case of Tammy Nobles, whose daughter was killed by an MS-13 gang member, to illustrate the potential consequences of such policies. Bondi also noted that Illinois has been subject to similar legal action.
The DOJ’s objective is to ensure states comply with federal immigration enforcement and disrupt criminal networks. Bondi reaffirmed the department’s commitment to upholding the law and safeguarding American lives.
