Love means accepting your partner’s quirks, but my husband’s shower aversion is testing my limits. For our entire 18-month marriage, he’s religiously maintained a once-weekly washing routine.
At first, it was manageable. But when he transitioned to a physically intensive day job, the consequences became impossible to ignore. Greasy hair, visible skin flakes, and overpowering body odor became our new normal.
The breaking point came when I found myself recoiling as he held our newborn with dirt-caked arms. His solution shocked me – instead of showering, he’d been using alcohol wipes. His explanation was even more surprising: he believes frequent washing diminishes masculinity.
While I appreciate his attempts to compromise, I can’t help but wonder – at what point does personal preference become a health hazard? Our baby deserves better, and frankly, so do I.
