Nancy Pelosi, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, was hospitalized after sustaining an injury from a fall during an official trip to Luxembourg. According to a spokesperson, Pelosi, 84, is receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.
Pelosi was part of a congressional delegation visiting Europe to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. Her spokesperson, Ian Krager, stated that she is unable to attend the remaining events due to her injury.
Although the nature of her injury was not disclosed, sources familiar with the situation reported that Pelosi tripped and fell during an event with other lawmakers. One source mentioned that she suffered a hip injury.
Representative Michael McCaul, a Republican from Texas, expressed his support for Pelosi’s speedy recovery on social media. McCaul was part of the same delegation and shared a group photo with Pelosi taken at the United States Embassy in Luxembourg.
Pelosi’s injury comes two years after her husband, Paul, was attacked at their home in San Francisco. The former leader has continued to be active in politics despite stepping down from her leadership position two years ago. She was re-elected to represent her San Francisco district in November and has been attending formal events, including the Kennedy Center Honors in Washington.
