The Day Bert and Edna Finally Came Clean

Bert and Edna had been married for fifty-five years, and like any long-term couple, they had secrets. Big ones.

It all came out one quiet evening on the porch swing.

Edna set down her tea. “Bert, let’s talk bucket lists.”

Bert frowned. “At our age, my bucket’s got a hole in it.”

But Edna insisted. “Come on. One last adventure.”

Bert sighed. “Fine. I’ve always wanted to skydive.”

Edna nearly choked. “You get dizzy standing up too fast!”

Bert waved her off. “If I die midair, just tell the grandkids I went out like a legend.”

Edna rolled her eyes. “Well, my bucket list item is coming clean.”

And then the confessions started.

The recliner that mysteriously leaned left for two decades? Edna’s revenge for the grape soda incident.

The haunted TV remote? A penny and a grudge over too many football games.

Bert, in turn, admitted his “fishing trips” were actually bowling tournaments—complete with hidden trophies.

By the end of the night, they were laughing so hard the neighbors peeked over the fence.

The next week, Bert jumped out of a plane (with a parachute, thankfully), and Edna finally replaced his sabotaged recliner.

And as for the bowling trophies? They’re now proudly displayed in the living room—right next to Edna’s collection of Hallmark Christmas DVDs.
