A peaceful beach day in Fort Lauderdale turned into something miraculous when a family from Michigan spotted a towering wooden cross washed up on the sand. Covered in barnacles and worn by the sea, the 20-foot structure seemed to appear out of nowhere.
Greg Gay, who was there when the cross was discovered, felt it was no accident. “The ocean held onto this for who knows how long—why release it now, right where we were standing?” he mused.
Word of the cross spread fast, with many calling it a “holy sign.” Frank Talerico, a nearby hotel owner, shared that his sister had been praying just before the cross appeared, troubled by a bad dream. “She felt something was off, so she prayed—and then this shows up,” he said. “It feels like protection.”
Social media erupted with reactions, with some calling it a divine message. “God works in mysterious ways,” one person wrote. “This is a sign to open our hearts.”
The hotel has since kept the cross on display, welcoming visitors to see and photograph it. Whether a coincidence or something deeper, its sudden arrival has given beachgoers—and the internet—plenty to ponder.
