Inspired by the beloved Disney character Bambi, social media influencer Molly-Mae Hague chose to name her baby girl Bambi, a decision that sparked a wave of online criticism. The baby shares this unique name with the daughter of reality TV star Molly-Mae and Tommy Fury, a couple who met on Love Island. Despite the backlash, Molly-Mae stands firmly behind her choice.
In January 2023, Molly-Mae proudly introduced her daughter Bambi on Instagram, sharing a sweet photo of the baby in a beautifully decorated room. Almost immediately, negative comments flooded in. Some online users mocked the name, calling it a “brilliant stripper name,” leaving Molly-Mae shocked by how harsh people could be.
“I thought it was a beautiful, unique name,” she said on her YouTube channel, reflecting on the trolling. “But the negativity was overwhelming.”
Tommy Fury also expressed affection for the name, revealing that Molly-Mae had wanted to name their daughter Bambi from the start, and he was happy to agree.
The couple—now separated—disabled comments on their announcement to shield their daughter from hurtful opinions.
Interestingly, Molly-Mae isn’t alone in choosing the name Bambi. Earlier in 2022, Sydney-based influencer Indy Clinton named her daughter Bambi Valentine, believing it to be an original choice. The idea struck her while reading the storybook to her son, and the baby’s big brown eyes and curious nature sealed the decision.
Like Molly-Mae, Indy encountered social media criticism, with some cruel comments. However, many others praised the unique name and called the baby beautiful.
Indy shrugged off the negativity, saying she’s less concerned about being criticized than about choosing a common old-fashioned name. She believes unique names are the new trend and is proud that Bambi fits among other modern names like Rivers and Stormi.
She’s clear that Bambi will remain her daughter’s name, despite what others say.
