Tragic End to Three-Day Search for Missing Boy in North Carolina

A desperate search lasting three days for seven-year-old Liam Alexander King ended in heartbreaking tragedy in North Carolina. Liam, believed to be nonverbal and experiencing cognitive challenges, went missing on September 7 near Forest Hills Drive in Randolph County.

Authorities quickly mobilized a large search operation involving helicopters, drones, K-9 units, dive teams, and ground search crews. They combed wooded areas, nearby yards, and especially focused on ponds and waterways around Liam’s home, knowing his strong fascination with water made the search time critical.

Despite the tireless efforts of first responders, deputies, and volunteers, Liam’s body was sadly discovered in a pond close to where he was last seen on the morning of September 9.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office expressed deep sorrow on social media, sharing their devastation and extending their heartfelt sympathies to Liam’s family and the entire community. “We wish more than anything for a different outcome,” they wrote, recognizing the commitment shown by the many people who poured their hearts into finding the boy alive.
