A horrifying mass shooting took place at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc Township, Michigan, resulting in the deaths of at least four people, including the alleged gunman, and injuring over eight others. The 40-year-old shooter, Thomas Jacob Sanford, a former Marine deployed in Iraq, drove his vehicle through the church’s front doors before opening fire on congregants during Sunday service.
Sanford reportedly set the building on fire with gasoline, causing extensive damage and leading to fears that more victims may be found inside the charred remains. Injured victims were rushed to hospitals, with some in critical condition.

Police responded swiftly, shooting and killing Sanford in the parking lot just minutes after the attack began. Authorities are continuing their investigation with support from the FBI.
