On September 5, 2018, 17-year-old Katelyn Ray tragically lost her life in a car accident on Highway 315 in Panola County, Mississippi. Katelyn was on her way to pick up her older sister from work when she failed to notice a school bus slowing down ahead. Without braking, she crashed into the bus at high speed.
A first responder took a haunting photo at the scene, showing that Katelyn still clutched her phone when emergency workers removed her from the car. Police believe her attention was on the device rather than the road, leading to the fatal crash.
Fortunately, none of the more than 12 children on the bus were injured and were transported on another bus. Katelyn’s family mourns deeply, remembering that last conversation with their beloved daughter.
