Selma Blair has opened up about a little-known symptom of Multiple Sclerosis that doctors missed for years. Diagnosed in 2018, the “Legally Blonde” star revealed she’d experienced symptoms like optical neuritis—severe eye pain and vision problems—since childhood, but it was dismissed as a lazy eye.
Blair explained how this painful eye condition causes inflammation and damage to the optic nerve and can mimic MS signs. Alongside vision issues, she endured chronic headaches, fevers, and motor problems, including a drop foot and tics.
For years, her symptoms were wrongly treated as depression due to extreme fatigue. Despite being in remission, she continues to manage ongoing challenges and is hopeful as new treatments have improved her condition.
