European Leaders Laugh at President Trump’s Geography Gaffe

President Donald Trump has once again become the subject of amusement — this time, among European leaders — after a notable geography mix-up. Trump repeatedly confused two completely different countries, Azerbaijan and Albania, when boasting about resolving an international conflict.

At a recent summit in Copenhagen, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama joked with French President Emmanuel Macron and Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev, saying they should receive an apology for missed congratulations on the “peace deal” Trump claimed between Albania and Azerbaijan. The leaders shared a hearty laugh, with Macron humorously apologizing.

While Trump did help broker a genuine peace agreement in August between Azerbaijan and Armenia, his habit of mixing up countries and even mispronouncing Azerbaijan as “Aber-baijan” has drawn widespread attention. During a press conference with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump repeated the error while describing the meeting, much to the amusement of observers.
