Spanish Acrobat Marina Barceló Falls to Death During Circus Act in Germany

Marina Barceló, a 27-year-old Spanish acrobat, tragically fell about 16 feet from a trapeze during a performance at Circus Paul Busch in Bautzen, Germany, on September 27. The incident, witnessed by approximately 100 spectators including many children, left the audience horrified and parents shielding their kids’ eyes.

Known for her breathtaking aerial routines, Marina had been performing internationally since 2018, captivating audiences across several European countries. Her love of trapeze and gymnastics was evident, as she often shared posts of her daring stunts on social media.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, but she was pronounced dead instantly. Police confirmed she was not wearing a safety harness, a choice permitted by German regulations that allow performers to decide for themselves.

The local circus canceled the rest of their season and offered psychological support to the shaken audience. Authorities continue investigating the circumstances, considering a possible medical episode earlier. Marina’s community mourns a gifted artist taken too soon.
