Ufran Sharif, who was convicted of the brutal murder of his 10-year-old daughter Sara Sharif after a horrific two-year campaign of torture, was attacked by inmates shortly after beginning his life sentence. The cruel abuse that led to Sara’s death sent shockwaves worldwide, with Sharif confessing to beating and torturing her to death.
Since his arrival at HMP Belmarsh, known as Britain’s Guantanamo Bay, word of Sharif’s heinous crime spread quickly among prisoners. Inmates, horrified by his actions, planned and carried out a violent ambush against him on New Year’s Day, using a makeshift weapon made from a tuna can lid.
Sharif was sliced badly across his face and neck, surviving only after requiring emergency medical care. Prison guards have taken measures to protect him, though reports suggest he faces a constant threat due to the nature of his crime.
