Illinois Governor JB Pritzker Accuses Trump of Dementia Over Troop Deployment

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has strongly criticized former President Donald Trump for sending Texas National Guard troops to Illinois amid anti-immigration protests. This move, which involves around 500 troops stationed about an hour southwest of Chicago, has sparked significant controversy. The troops were deployed for an initial 60-day period, but their presence is being legally challenged. While many of Trump’s supporters and Republican leaders have applauded the action, Illinois Democrats and local officials are firmly opposed.

Governor Pritzker aired his frustration publicly, accusing Trump of having severe mental health issues. He claimed that Trump is “suffering from dementia” and is stuck on outdated ideas that are driving him to send federal forces to cities like Chicago. Pritzker argued that despite Trump’s disconnection from reality, he still wields dangerous power over the military and federal government, which he is using to push his agenda. This sharp attack comes amid escalating tensions between the governor and the former president.

In response, Trump lashed out at both Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, saying they “should be in jail” for their handling of law enforcement matters, especially related to ICE officers. This back-and-forth has intensified the political battle surrounding the troop deployment and immigration enforcement in Illinois.

Concerns about Trump’s health have also resurfaced recently, especially after observers noticed bruising on his dominant hand during court appearances and diplomatic meetings. The White House claims the bruises are due to frequent handshakes, and not any health problems. Medical experts have suggested that the marks could come from minor injuries or routine medical procedures.

As the debate over the deployment continues, many in Illinois remain divided, questioning both the necessity and legality of sending troops into their communities. Governor Pritzker’s statements highlight the deep political and personal rift between him and Trump, reflecting broader national tensions.
