New Health Concerns as President Trump Returns to Hospital

President Donald Trump, now 79, returned to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on October 10, 2025, for what was described as a “routine yearly checkup.” This is his second hospital visit in just six months amid growing public concern over his health, particularly after months of visible bruising on his hands.

Trump previously underwent an annual physical in April, which reportedly showed him in excellent health, including stable cholesterol and no heart issues. However, since then, Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a vascular condition causing swelling and bruising in the legs and hands. White House doctors attributed the bruises to frequent handshakes and aspirin use, while he also exhibited swollen ankles and occasional mental lapses.

Vice President JD Vance, in an August interview, expressed confidence in Trump’s health and ability to serve, though his comments about “terrible tragedies” raised further questions about the president’s fitness. Recently, Trump himself maintained a defiant stance, saying, “I feel the same or better than I did 30 years ago” and calling life “complex.”

The October checkup at Walter Reed involved advanced imaging, lab tests, and preventive screenings, with Trump also receiving flu and updated COVID-19 booster shots ahead of a planned Middle East trip. Despite the hospital visit and health worries, the White House states Trump remains in “exceptional health,” with a cardiovascular age estimated 14 years younger than his actual age.
