A Cruel Message and a Broken Trust

Henry’s world came crashing down the moment he saw the words Hope She Was Worth It scrawled across his car. The message was impossible to ignore, its bold letters taunting him with an accusation he couldn’t understand. He turned to Emily, his pregnant wife, hoping for reassurance, but instead, he saw doubt creeping into her eyes. No matter how many times he insisted he had never cheated, the damage was already done. The truth, however, was far more sinister than a simple betrayal. This wasn’t the work of a scorned lover—it was the act of someone much closer to him.

Emily clung to him, her tears soaking his shirt as she whispered, “I’m sorry, Henry. I didn’t want to believe it, but I just… I didn’t know what to think.” He held her tightly, his heart aching as he murmured, “It’s okay. This isn’t your fault, Emily.” But someone was to blame, and that person was standing right in front of them.

Claire stood nearby, her arms crossed and her face unreadable. But Henry could see the faint glimmer of regret in her eyes. It wasn’t the kind of remorse that came from true guilt, though. It was something colder, more calculated. She knew what she had done, and whether she truly regretted it was another story.
