She Cut Down Our 200-Year-Old Sequoia – Then Tried to Bill Us for It

We knew Barbara disliked our trees, but we never imagined she’d go this far.

Coming home to find our ancient sequoia felled was like a punch to the gut. The sight of its massive trunk lying across our yard, two oaks crushed beneath it, left my family in tears. Barbara’s excuse—”a storm took it down”—was insulting. Then she handed us an invoice for $8,000, claiming we owed her for the mess.

The audacity was staggering. But Barbara didn’t know about the camera we’d hidden in the branches to watch nesting owls. The footage showed her hiring a crew to chop it down in cold blood.

When we showed her the evidence, her smugness vanished. Legal action followed, and while we’ll never get our tree back, Barbara learned that destroying history comes with a price.
