For 25 years, Rosa’s breathtakingly long hair flowed down to her knees – a personal trademark she maintained despite her husband’s occasional suggestions to try something new. Friends and stylists alike had grown accustomed to her stunning 1.5 meter long locks, making her recent decision all the more surprising.
When Rosa finally walked into her regular salon and asked for a dramatic chop, stylist Eda Motchka was stunned. “After all these years of trimming and maintaining that beautiful length,” Motchka said, “I never imagined she’d want to cut it all off.”
But Rosa had been growing her hair with a secret purpose. The 4 feet of hair she removed went directly to Locks of Love, where it will become a custom wig for a child experiencing medical hair loss. “Cancer treatments take so much from children,” Rosa shared. “If my hair can give back even a little of what’s been taken from them, then every inch was worth growing.”
While her husband may have appreciated the new look, the true meaning behind Rosa’s transformation goes far beyond aesthetics. Her years of dedication and patience have now become a gift of confidence and normalcy for a child in need.
