Patrick Adiarte: A Life of Dance, Drama, and Dedication

The entertainment industry has lost a true talent with the passing of Patrick Adiarte at 82. Best known for his role in MASH*, Adiarte was also a gifted dancer and stage actor whose career spanned over five decades.

Adiarte’s breakout roles came in classic musical films like Flower Drum Song and The King and I. His dancing skills were so remarkable that Gene Kelly once compared him to Fred Astaire—a rare and high compliment.

On television, he appeared in numerous hit shows, but his role as Ho-Jon in MASH* remains one of his most beloved. Though the character disappeared after the first season, Adiarte’s performance was unforgettable.

Born in Manila, he survived the hardships of war before moving to the U.S., where he found success on Broadway and in Hollywood. Even in his later years, he stayed connected to the arts, teaching dance to new generations.

Patrick Adiarte’s legacy is one of talent, perseverance, and passion.
